These things are all true! Sheep wool grease is good for the sheep because:

• it protects the wool from damage from sunlight and heat
• it water-proofs the fleece so the sheep stays dryer
• it helps kill some bacteria

If it works for sheep, maybe it works for humans too!

The Lanolin Factory

In 1925 Mr Crowe and Mr Dawe set up a company in Yorkshire, UK, to make lanolin from wool grease. Their company, Croda, has been making it ever since.

Lanolin is used in all sorts of creams for people and has also been used to protect metal parts of machinery and stop them from rusting.
